iFixit Proposal

 Proposal for iFixit

This week marks the week we begin on our SEO project for iFixit. iFixit is an incredible website with an even more incredible mission: ridding our planet of toxic electronic waste. The company teams up with different universities to help them complete their mission by having students write manuels on different products, set up websites, and more. This is an incredible learning opportunity for the students involved by being a hands-on learning experience.

With this aside, I am lucky enough to participate in the SEO project with Dr. Hope, but also tackling the Standard Project with Dr. McMurrin. These two activities go hand in hand to show the different aspects of technical and professional writing. As of now, I am working on the proposal for the SEO Project and the troubleshoot page for the Standard Project. These two writing activities further my experience and understanding of what it means to be a professional and technical writer.

I think by bringing in the guest speaker from Zonos was incredibly helpful to introduce this project. He explained many important parts of the the SEO process and what SEO actually is. There was a lot of information I didn't know that will make this process easier.

  1. Hi Merika,
I really liked reading your perspective about this week and the project we are doing. I agree with you about the fact that this project has helped apply professional technical writing into my real life. Whenever I think of applying my degree to anything in my life, I do think of very basic surface level things. I didn't think of how I could use technical writing in a project like this. This also allowed me to gain the perspective of how beneficial technical writing can be towards me journey pursuing my law degree. I am interested in seeing what we do with our finished project.
